Zara released their beauty range back in December and I really wanted to get my hands on one of their lip kits, so I did, haha!
I went for the Ultimatte Trio which includes a lipliner, matte lipstick and ultimate matte liquid lipstick. The kit comes in a chic blue tin which is really handy and you can reuse it when travelling to store your makeup brushes. It includes a pink-beige lipstick and lipliner and liquid lipstick in a nude brown. I went for this kit because I love a good nude lip, but boy did this kit let me down big time.
So, let’s start with the velvety-matte lipstick in the shade UM01 which is a pinky-beige colour. All the lipsticks contain Vitamin E for extra hydration and protection. The lipstick glides on really smooth and is super creamy, but honestly, this is one of the driest lipsticks I’ve used. It felt like it was crumbling the moment it touched my lips and my lips felt really dry whilst wearing it. There’s also a really sweet, not so nice, scent to it which I didn’t enjoy.
The hi-matte liquid lipstick in shade M14 isn’t any better. Although it contains Argan oil and Vitamin E, again, it’s really drying on the lips. I do really like this shade, it’s a warm brown-nude, but Zara needs to rethink their formulation to make it more comfortable to wear. The one and only upside of the liquid lipstick is it stayed all day and went through several cups of coffee without any touch-ups.
The kit comes at a good price of £19.99 which is reasonable considering you’re getting three items for the price, but the quality of the product has really let me down. I was expecting more from Zara, given that they are known for their good quality, trendy and affordable clothing, but their beauty range needs to be rethought.
Have you tried anything from the Zara Beauty range? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
